The ACLU's War on Homeland Security
In court briefs filed by the ACLU, it has argued that the search warrants used in the raid on the IIIT were overly broad and that the materials taken, which the government is still using in its investigation, should be returned.
The ACLU and protestors who held rallies on behalf of Intel software engineer Mike Hawash initially condemned the Justice Department for holding Hawash, a Palestinian born in Jordan who became a U.S. citizen in 1990, for a month as a material witness without formally charging him with a crime.
In March, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the ACLU’s challenge to the government’s expanded powers to wiretap and search people suspected of having links to foreign terrorists, a fact the new “populist” ACLU was quick to publicize.

National ACLU Policy on Plural Marriage
The ACLU believes that criminal and civil laws prohibiting or penalizing the practice of plural marriage violate constitutional protections of freedom of expression and association, freedom of religion, and privacy for personal relationships among consenting adults.
Criminal and civil laws prohibiting the advocacy or practice of plural marriage are constitutionally defective.
Advocacy of plural marriage and the expression of a religious belief in plural marriage are protected by the free speech guarantee of the First Amendment even though polygamy has been declared to be criminal by states.

Decades of Shame - A Short History of the ACLU
An ACLU spokesperson said, "Although we may think proclamations are inappropriate, they may not violate the Constitution." (In 1998, when Governor Hull issued a proclamation declaring a "Bible Week," the ACLU sued, claiming a violation of the so-called "separation of church and state.")
In 1997 the ACLU successfully beseeched the Supreme Court to protect the rights of pornographers on the Internet - including the right to show their images to children.
January 2003 - The Hawaii branch of the ACLU filed suit to remove a requirement from a public school honor code that students pledge their "love for God." Without going to court, the school backed down.

American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky
The ACLU is the nation’s foremost organization defending and advancing civil rights and civil liberties principles through advocacy, litigation, legislative activities, and public education programs.
When the Court last considered this issue in 1980—in a challenge also brought by the ACLU of Kentucky—it reversed a lower court ruling that had upheld a state law requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.
Also today, the ACLU charged that the FBI is wrongfully withholding thousands of pages of documents, and filed suit in federal court to compel the FBI to comply with the FOIA requests.

FrontPage magazine.com :: You Can't Say That! by David E. Bernstein
Perhaps the ACLU's current drift away from defending civil liberties in favor of antidiscrimination and other concerns could be arrested if the ACLU adhered to a formal constitution-an immutable statement of civil libertarian principles to which the organization could refer any time its mandate became cloudy.
In the Hoffius case, the ACLU of Michigan filed a brief supporting plaintiffs suing a landlord for refusing to rent to cohabiting unmarried couples for religious reasons.
Religious freedom is hardly the only civil libertarian concern the ACLU has downgraded in favor of antidiscrimination concerns.

American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon
Originally enacted in 2001, the ACLU of Oregon joined with law enforcement, prosecutors and defense attorneys to pass a limited DNA innocence law available only to defendants who were found guilty (excluding those who pled guilty) and who did not previously have access to DNA testing of evidence.
Measure 3 changed the law to require a criminal conviction before final action can be taken in a civil forfeiture action to confiscate cash and other assets that have allegedly been used in crimes.
Currently, Measure 3 is before the Oregon Supreme Court for a multiple amendment challenge.

Stop the ACLU Coalition - Working to keep America safe and free from the ACLU
Not to be outdone with NAMBLA, perhaps we might suggest the ACLU of Washington State take up this matter in the 2006 legislative session and announce its opposition to Sen. Roach's plans for this bill, all in the name of privacy and freedom.
It seems patently obvious the ACLU is willing to shove homosexual issues in the faces of the American people, despite record numbers of states enacting marriage amendments.

Among its current projects are: expanding anti-discrimination laws to require employers to hire illegal aliens; weakening sanctions against employers who hire illegal aliens; barring the INS from conducting inspections without a search warrant; requiring the INS to provide free legal counsel to illegal aliens; and ensuring illegal aliens' eligibility for welfare benefits.
The ACLU was a signatory to a March 17, 2003 letter exhorting members of the U.S. Congress "to oppose the Domestic Security Enhancement Act (DSEA), also known as 'Patriot [Act] II,'" which was then under consideration.
In February 2004, Hawash was convicted of the aforementioned crimes and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

 Christianity attacked by ACLU
When the ACLU files a suit against a municipality/county/school district or any other entity that receives tax money, and the case is a "civil rights issue", if they win their judgment, the taxpayers, according to the civil rights law, pay their expenses.
It is time, and past time, to call the ACLU to account for their soft (or maybe not so soft) bigotry, using the same "hate crime" laws they were so instrumental in getting into the statutes of various states.
With the ACLU weakened the battle could still be waged against them in court and the tide would turn in concert with the changes occurring on the Supreme Court

The ACLU generally files cases that affect the civil liberties or civil rights of large numbers of people, rather than those involving a dispute between individual parties.
If we do not accept your case, the ACLU is unable to give you advice about your case, answer questions, or provide other types of assistance - for example, reviewing papers or conducting legal research to assist you.
If you do not comply with the applicable statute of limitations, you may be legally barred from pursuing your claim in court.

 ACLU of Colorado: News
Barnette (1943), Judge Babcock agreed with the ACLU's arguments that the Colorado Pledge law was likely to be found unconstitutional because the First Amendment prohibits government from forcing people to participate in speech against their will.
On August 15, 2003, the Honorable Lewis Babcock, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, granted the ACLU's request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) barring the State of Colorado and four local school districts from enforcing Colorado's mandatory Pledge of Allegiance law.
In his oral ruling, Judge Babcock said "It doesn't matter whether you're a teacher, a student, a citizen, an administrator, or anyone else, it is beyond the power of the authority of government to compel the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance."

 ACLU Hasn't A-C-L-U-E
The author's main point was that the ACLU was created ostensibly to protect civil liberties, i.e., to protect individual rights from government oppression.
However, it's just wishful thinking that the ACLU (sometimes known as the "Anti-Christian Litigation Union) is imploding.
The American Civil Liberties Union is imploding and the wide array of life options it endorses seems to no longer include a belief in the traditional American way.

The ACLU of Massachusetts is representing the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) in a civil lawsuit brought in U.S. District Court seeking damages from the organization based on information which it had published.
In a 9-0 decision, the Court ruled that the state had failed to demonstrate that the restrictions were narrowly drawn to advance the state's legitimate interest in reducing teenage smoking, and thus the regulations violated the First Amendment.

In the past, O'Reilly has called the ACLU "the most dangerous organization in the United States of America right now...

Welcome to the ACLU of Colorado
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the ACLU Foundation of Colorado became an affiliate of the National ACLU in 1952, as the seventeenth official national affiliate to be formed.
The ACLU Foundation of Colorado, as an incorporated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization to which contributions are tax-deductible, is supported solely through individual donations, including private grants, proceeds from events, and attorneys' fees when we prevail in court.
Our dedicated supporters allow the Colorado ACLU to reach out to the public on important issues, to respond to new challenges and to undertake strong, creative, and successful legal, educational and advocacy initiatives.

“Under clearly established law, the seal is unconstitutional,” the letter said, warning that refusal to remove the cross in a “reasonable time-frame” would cause the ACLU to seek a court order.

Citing precedents, Wizner said there could be no serious dispute about whether or not the seal was legal.

 WorldNetDaily: Pull plug on ACLU
For instance, when the ACLU takes a city to court claiming a Christmas display violates the Establishment Clause, if the municipality loses, the city's taxpayers are often forced to pay ACLU attorneys.
Since so many members of Congress – nearly all of them are on record in opposing the Defense Department's appeasement of the ACLU, maybe one of these brave souls should move to change the civil-rights statute that permits the ACLU from collecting attorney fees from governments the organization takes to court.
CourtZero.org, a website dedicated to stemming judicial activism, is petitioning Congress to change 42 U.S.C., Section 1988, of the United States Code that permits judges to award attorney fees to plaintiffs in civil-rights cases brought against local governments, thereby putting the taxpayers on the hook and oftentimes funneling public money to the ACLU.
