 Prescott Bush - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prescott Bush was one of the earliest supporters of the United Negro College Fund, and, in 1951, he was elected chairman of the organization's Connecticut branch.
In 1952 he was elected to the United States Senate, defeating Abraham Ribicoff for the vacant seat which was caused by the death of James O'Brien McMahon.
Prescott Bush, played varsity golf, football, and baseball, and was president of the Yale Glee Club, and, in fact, was regarded as the best close-harmony man in the class of 1917.

This Prescott family is currently taken to be the descendants of James Prescott who was born in the town of St Helens, Lancashire in 1810.
The male line decended from James' eldest son William is now extinct with the last male Prescott being the headmaster of Buxworth School, Derbyshire.
There are still living Prescotts descended from James' third son Jonadab who moved to Blackburn, Lancashire around 1884.
