It is also known as reverse discrimination but in the United States this term is used solely by its detractors.
When minorities are actively sought or preferred, the reason given is usually that this is necessary to compensate for advantages to groups such as males or those of European descent from racism, sexism, results of historical circumstances, and institutional racism.
This is contrary to claims of "social justice" made by supporters.

Whites should never forget slavery either so it never happens again.

this issue is much larger than just this thread, this message board, black and white, and the silly simplistic term "reverse racism".
Why was it that Asians could come to this country after being excluded till 1943 and make up a life from having absolutely nothing, when Afro Americans could not do it in more than 150 years?

 AGAINST AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
This can not be an affirmative program if there is a form of discrimination involved.
Affirmative Action tried to help minorities and women, but in the process, reverse discrimination has taken place.
Affirmative Action is supposed to be a program designed to end racism, but isn't it really justifying racism by it's own actions.

Watching Ken Burns generally marvelous 10-part PBS documentary "Jazz" several weeks ago brought me back to a night at the Apollo when I heard Louis Armstrong (appearing there following his famous 1947 Town Hall Concert) put down reverse racism.
A Black newspaper writer had criticized Louis for using a White man (the magnificent trombonist Jack Teagarden) in his band.
