Right - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In most views of law, it is not generally considered necessary that a right should be understood by a holder of that right, thus rights may be agreed on behalf of another, such as children's rights or the rights of people declared mentally incompetent to understand their rights.
Civil rights are the protections and privileges of personal liberty given to all citizens by law.
In many cases, especially regarding ideological and similar rights, the obligation depends on the legal system in its entirety, or on the state, or on the generical universality of other subjects submitted to the law.

 Legal Definition of Right
The former are those where the party has the legal title to a thing, and in that case, his remedy for an infringement of it, is by an action in a court of law.
Rights might with propriety be also divided into natural and civil rights but as all the rights which man has received from nature have been modified and acquired anew from the civil law, it is more proper, when considering their object, to divide them into political and civil rights.
The latter, or equitable rights, are those which may be enforced in a court of equity by the cestui que trust.

 Law vs. Legal
What is legal is cognizable in courts of law; as distinguished from courts of equity which are not governed by rules of law.
Legal systems may conform to law, they may be permitted by law, they may even be created by law but they are not law in themselves.
By definition, a legal title is the opposite or at least the antithesis of an "equitable title." An equitable title as opposed to a legal title "is a right in the party" rather than only appearing to be a right.

 Legal Rights
We talk of legislatures having the legal right to pass laws, of judges to decide cases, of private individuals to make wills and contracts; as well as of constitutions providing legal rights to the citizens against fellow citizens and against the state itself.
Legal rights are, clearly, rights which exist under the rules of legal systems.
The issue is often complicated, legally, by the absence of clear indication from the legislature as whether it intended, by a particular statute, to create only a crime or also to confer civil law rights on citizens.

The agreement should specify that although only one of the parents is the legal parent, both parents consider themselves to be the parents of their child, with all of the legal rights and responsibilities that come with that position.
A legal parent is a person who has the legal right to be with a child and make decisions about the child's health, education, and well-being.
The most common means by which lesbian or gay co-parents establish a legal relationship with their child is through what is generally referred to as a "second parent adoption." A second parent adoption is the legal procedure by which a same-sex co-parent adopts his or her parent's child without terminating the other parent's parental rights.
